Bob Cratchit doesn’t have the easiest life. He’s poor, his kid is sick and his boss is a jerk. Like the jerkiest jerk in Jerktown. But somehow, he pushes through. And if anyone needs a drink after work, it’s him!
To come up with Bob’s cocktail, we put ourselves in his shoes. What would he need to drink after coming home from a long day of dealing with a hateful, old miser? We decided on a hot toddy, something that would warm him up and begin to loosen his tense muscles. We also thought that some chamomile would begin to de-stress him after dealing with his boss. A little ginger to help aid in digestion and you have a classic toddy to drink on a cold winter day.
Bob Cratchit Cocktail:
- 2 oz chamomile infused bourbon (see below)
- 2 oz ginger liqueur
- ½ oz lemon juice
- 1 tsp honey
- 3 oz hot water
Pour the bourbon, ginger liqueur, lemon juice and honey into a mug. Top off with hot water and stir to dissolve the honey. Drop in a twist of lemon for garnish.
Cocktail Notes:
To infuse the bourbon, we used one cup of bourbon and one tablespoon of chamomile flowers. Let the mixture set for approximately 3 hours. Taste periodically to determine the strength of the infusion. Strain and then store in a covered container in the refrigerator. If you don’t want to do the infusion, you could substitute fresh brewed chamomile tea for the hot water.
